Author Fun: 13 Questions About Diane Morasco!
Diane Morasco’s debut title to be released in November 2016 is Even Tough Women Can Crack Like Eggs Sometimes. It is a book that I am anxiously awaiting and it covers some deep stuff relating to childhood abuse, domestic violence, self-acceptance and so much more. Today, I have the honor of doing a little fun post so that we would all get to know her a little better.
- Where is your favorite place to write?
Anywhere there is water. But since I am presently up in New England, it is my living room.
- Coffee or Tea?
- Favorite book of all-time?
The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene. I really thought ol’ Carolyn wrote it. I was duped.
- NaNoWriMo yes or no?
I have signed up, but I haven’t actually dived in…until now. This November I am jumping in the NaNoWriMo ocean with a few other writing cookie cakes.
- Genre that you would write if you had no restrictions?
- If you could have any superpower what would it be?
- Favorite author?
Uh oh! From the time I was eleven it has been the legendary Queen of Suspense, the lovely Mary Higgins Clark.
- What kind of music do you listen to when you write?
I was unable to listen to anything but white noise from my air purifier, the A/C or the fan while writing the first five or six chapters of Even Tough Women Crack Like Eggs Sometimes. However, when I reached the chapter that unleashed the tsunami, I knew it wasn’t going to be a silent ride from that point on. Tears are welling as I think back to that afternoon. Good gravy! That chapter was TOUGH! It made every fiber in my being pop off like fireworks. I blasted old-school hip-hop on my Bose to get me through those scenes.
I can only listen to Rainy Mood while writing. Thank goodness for Rainy Mood. Thank you to the genius who created it. And, thank you to my fellow writers at The Smarter Artist for letting me know this website and app existed. I also listen to Coffitivity when I am sportin’ my J Fox Ink ™ publisher cap. Again, I want to thank my fellow writing tribe over at The Smarter Artist for directing me there. For those who aren’t familiar, Coffitivity recreates the ambient sounds of a cafe to boost your creativity and help you work better. You can listen online or download the app. I do both. It just depends on my mood. Although, when my cells are crackling like grease in a fire pit from the scenes I am writing, I blast hip-hop on my Bose – or I hit the pavement for an hour. I am blessed to have my own mini home gym, but lately, I have grabbed Hope and we hit the streets for me to get it out.
- If you could live anywhere in the world where will it be?
Italy – Capri!
- What do you do when you get writer’s block?
I am blessed not to know this beast. Thank you, God. Thank you, Universe.
- Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Cue the audio for *crickets* as I make a face and giggle. I am not a plotter. I cannot grasp the concept. I just cannot. Cannot. My creative side just will not have any of that left brain nonsense in her creative studio.
However, the title chapters for Even Tough Women Crack Like Eggs Sometimes flowed out of me before I wrote one word of the book. I have written TOUGH based on the chapter titles. Which, for me, is nothing short of a miracle. Divine Inspiration has been the One navigating TOUGH. I have shared this with a soupçon of people from the beginning about being guided through out this book. I have been guided from the first day I started writing it. I guess, I am now what Kristen Martin calls a PLOTSER! Hmmm…I guess I will find out if I am an official “PLOTSER” with the other two books on the J Fox Ink™ production schedule to be released on December 13th and December 30th.
- Do you have a playlist for your characters?
Not there yet.
- Do you write every day?
Nope. Ya gotta have balance. It’s like exercise – ya gotta give your muscles time to rejuvenate, so ya have to rest. I do make lists and jot down creative things and business things every day. However, I am weaning myself off of that nonsense, which is not easy. I can’t always be a curvalicious boss. *wink*
Thank you, Diane.
